Impedance Spectrum for the Pep-i1 Rf Cavity*
نویسنده
چکیده
The impedance spectrum presented by the PEP-I1 RF cavity to the beam is calculated using a 3D MAFIA model which includes the damping waveguides and the input coupler. The simulation assumes that all the ports leading out of the cavity, including the beam pipes, are terminated in matched loads. The effect of the external loading on the longitudinal impedances will be examined. This study takes into account the input coupler damping which has not been considered in previous calculations [I].

متن کاملUpdated Impedance Estimate of the Pep-ii Rf Cavity
This paper presents an updated estimate of the higher-order mode impedance spectrum of the RF cavities for the PEP-II B-factory. The cavity is designed for continuous operation at 476 MHz with up to 150 kW wall dissipation and heavy beam loading. To reduce the growth rates of coupled-bunch instabilities the cavity higher-order modes are damped by three rectangular waveguides and broad-band load...
متن کاملArchitecture and Performance of the PEP-II Low-Level RF System*
Heavy beam loading in the PEP-II B Factory along with large ring circumferences places unique requirements upon the low-level RF (LLRF) system. RF feedback loops must reduce the impedance observed by the beam while ignoring the cavity transients caused by the ion clearing gap. Special attention must be placed on the cavity tuner loops to allow matching the ion clearing gap transients in the hig...
متن کاملCommissioning Experience from PEP-II HER Longitudinal Feedback
The DSP-based bunch-by-bunch feedback system installed in the PEPII high-energy ring (HER) has been used to damp instabilities induced by unwanted higher-order modes (HOMs) at beam currents up to 605 mA during commissioning. Beam pseudospectra calculated from feedback system data indicate the presence of coupled-bunch modes that coincide with a previously observed cavity mode (0-M-2). Bunch cur...
متن کاملAn Rf Cavity for the Nlc Damping Rings*
We report on the design and development of a strongly HOM damped copper RF cavity for the NLC damping rings. The cavity is based on the successful PEP-II RF cavity but incorporates many simplifications and improvements. The cavity is designed for a frequency of 714 MHz, gap voltage of 500 kV and beam current of 800 mA. We present the RF design and HOM impedance calculations done in MAFIA, the R...
